Key Characteristics of SV/PV:

Target Group

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Children - 1 year to 5 years (mainstreaming to schools)- some cases could be younger Mothers/Care Givers - accompanying them
Early Childhood Education (ECE) 3 & ½ hours minimum daily -6 days in double shift with 100 children Mothers presence in SV – 6 hours + per week
SV Spaces
Courtyard, 2-3 rooms, toilet, wash area, kitchen, kitchen garden, children at work, play spaces vocational room for mothers
Using heritage crafts/Rillies for color and shapes- as learning mats - Reclaiming heritage and aesthetics to highlight culture and its significance from early age.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Mothers’ Health (pre-post natal), Child Care , Well being-  and expressions
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Mothers’ engagement in certified skills/vocations for livelihoods – life skills and DRR
Governance
Mothers/Teachers’ Committee  is formed to govern the center on sustainable basis with a sense of ownership

Role of Lady Health Workers (LHWs)
Early Childhood Education (ECE) In SVs, lady health workers(LHWs) visit to have session with mothers & children on regular basis.She conducts health sessions on basic health topics and measures height and weight of the children as per their growth chart. Information and precautions on other viral or common diseases ( Diarrhea, Fever-primary health issues) is given to mothers and children are focused to prevent from them
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Usage of first aid box and (have given some some medicine for the first aid box)

Doctor’s Visit

Doctors visit the centres for children’s regular medical check ups and in case of any problem or daignosis of any disease they are reffered to the Basic Health Unit (BHU )& tertiary centres if needed

Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are being finalized for each child to track all dimensions of ECD

Skills and Livelihoods – Mothers/Older Siblings
This is just beginning of skills and livelihood program in 15 locations of south Punjab. On Thursday June 21st, 2012 the first trade commenced for mothers and older siblings through TEVTA certification at 50% fees for a 3 months course (beautician ...high demand) – ITA has MOU with TEVTA. It is an opportunity to learn skills, enterprise, linkages to micro credit. This program component will be expanded to all SVs and will be tracked for livelihoods linkages. All mothers/trainees will be provided exposure to DRR and life skills within 3 months... to empower local females in different ways
